Privacy Policy

Know Your Deficit ("KYD", "we", "us") is a calorie and macro tracking web application. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

What we collect

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address (for authentication)
• Body stats you enter: height, weight, age, sex
• Food logs (item names, calorie and protein amounts)
• Daily weight entries
• Daily step counts
• Medication and supplement names and dosages

We do not collect your name, phone number, address, payment card details (handled entirely by Stripe), location data, contacts, or any data from other apps on your device.

Why we collect it

Your data is used solely to provide the KYD service to you:

• Calculate your BMR and TDEE estimates
• Track your calorie deficit, protein intake, and weight trends
• Generate AI-assisted food estimates (your food descriptions are sent to our AI provider for estimation only and are not stored by them)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Ever.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), which is hosted on servers in the United States. By using KYD, you consent to the transfer of your data to the US. Google maintains industry-standard security certifications and practices. We rely on Google's data protection measures to ensure your data receives comparable protection to that required under Singapore's PDPA.

How your data is protected

• All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit)
• Firebase security rules ensure you can only access your own data
• Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication (we never see or store your password)
• We do not use tracking cookies, analytics scripts, or advertising pixels

Your rights

Under the PDPA, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data — all your data is visible to you within the app at all times
• Correct your personal data — you can edit any entry directly in the app
• Withdraw consent — you can delete your entire account and all associated data from Settings. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed from our systems. We do not retain backups of deleted accounts.

Children

KYD is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
